Lesley Higgins, 28, was a two-time NCAA Division I track All-American at the University of Colorado. In 1999, she was selected as the Big XII newcomer of the year and was also the Big XII champion in the 1000 meters indoors. She was a scoring member of the NCAA DI cross country national championship team in 2000, when she also finished eighth in the 3000 meters at the NCAA DI outdoor track and field championships. While running for CU, Lesley was the first American, second overall, in the mile at the 2001 NCAA DI indoor track and field championships, where she ran a personal best of 4:42.36. In addition to being the Big XII champion in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 2002, Lesley was also a 2002 USA track and field championships qualifier in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Lesley began her comeback in 2007 at the USA championships in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her PR of 9:58.63 at the 2008 Saturn Midwest Distance Solution earned her the Olympic Trials A standard. She finished 13th in the finals of the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2008 Olympic Trials in Eugene.
