Spring Training Underway

Spring has finally arrived in Eugene and the weather has been optimal for training.   The excitement around town is growing for the 2008 Olympic Trials starting at the end of June at Hayward Field.  Local news channels are running weekly promotional spots on the event.  The Airport and Library are both covered with Track Town memorabilia.    Race schedules are being finalized, the goal is to keep the focus for everyone on the trials and for Dathan the Olympic Marathon.  Dathan has been recording his thoughts on a Final Sprint Blog.

James Carney, 2008 USA Half Marathon Champion has relocated from Boulder, Colorado to Eugene for sea-level training.  James is excited to get in some fast workouts at sea-level to prepare for track season.  We are excited to have an international visitor join our enclave for the spring.   Nike sponsored Track and Road Race standout Boaz Cheboiywo of Kenya, a former NCAA Cross Country Champion in both track and cross country for Eastern Michigan, has recently relocated to Eugene.  For a photo blog of Boaz and Carney’s first workout together in Tracktown USA visit ROAD TO THE TRACK TRIALS EPISODE #2 .
